Sudan ISD Academic UIL Team Earns Historical Accolades at State Meet

The Sudan Academic UIL team competed in Austin, Texas, at the UIL State Academic Meet in May, notably earning historical accolades in select categories.

The team placed fourth overall in sweepstakes, previously placing fifth last year.

For the first time, the speech team earned second place in sweepstakes.

Tied with their previous finish, the computer science team earned second place. Individually, Gibson Whittington placed second.

The numbers and sense team placed fourth. Individually, Caden Edens placed fifth.

In poetry, Chase Caswell placed sixth.

In prose, Drew Lockhart placed third, and Brooklyn Swart placed fifth.

“I am really going to miss this senior class,” Jonathan Robertson, the team’s academic coach, said. “They are an academic powerhouse. What they have done to advance the reputation of SHS Academics is commendable and amazing. It will be fun to watch their achievements as they spread their wings and lead.”
