Thursday, some of our Amherst and Littlefield FFA kiddos were getting their animals ready to show, and were giving them their baths, and grooming them for the county-wide show.
Keeiona Shed, of Amherst FFA said: “I have just always loved cows and dealing with them, so I chose to have a dairy cow in the FFA.” She was busy giving “Montecarlo” a good bath.
I spoke with Brandy Hernandez, who was busy working with her dairy cow, “011ie.” Brandy stated: “Ever since I was little, I wanted to work with cows, and I never knew I actually could. Then I got into High School, got into FFA and I was able to have my own cow. I really enjoy taking care of her.”
Next up, Katherina Ojeda, of Littlefield’s FFA, was cleaning up her sweet “Daisy.” When asked why she began with showing cows, she said: “I wanted to get into something different, and I really enjoy the hands-on care of animals, instead of just standing back watching them.”
Itzel Villa, also an Amherst FFA student, was busy cleaning up her calf, “Nova,” and she told me: “I’ve always just loved animals, so I really enjoy being able to take care of Nova and do the things she needs me to do for her care.”
