The City of Springlake Fourth of July Celebration began Monday evening with a patriotic parade led by a mounted honor guard, antique cars and tractors, floats, many decorated four wheel off road vehicles decorated by young people, and representation of first responder vehicles from the communities of Springlake, Olton, Amherst, Earth, and Littlefield. Businesses represented in the parade included Always Towing of Littlefield, Western Equipment, Livingston Machinery, Cricket Wireless, Keep Clean Mobile Car Wash, Gallegos Bull Barn,Pete’s Mowing Service, and United Pivot Techs.

Prize winners in the parade include 1 st place Emerson Yesel, 2 nd place Easton Yesel, and 3 rd place Akin Conner in the Kid’s bikes, and gocarts category.

School Cheer category 1 st place Springlake-Earth Jr. High School and 2 nd place Springlake-Earth High School.

In the Automobile Category, Robert Rodriguez’s 1970 “Super Bee” took 1 st Place, Romero Agundiz’s ‘78 Lincoln took 2 nd place, and Caleb Logan’s ‘75 Cutlass took 3 rd place.

In the Antique Tractor Category, Carl Enloe’s 70 John Deere took 1 st place, Blake Fennell’s 830 John Deere tractor took 2 nd place and his model 95 John Deere Combine took 3 rd place.

Following the parade, everyone gathered at the Springlake Park for a hamburger meal, live entertainment, and a cake auction with a fireworks show to follow.

Before the cake auction began, the Springlake Volunteer Fire Department, took a few moments to honor Wade Kelley of Earth, Texas. He was a former member of the Springlake Volunteer Fire Department. He served in Iraq during Desert Storm and he had been a member of the Fire Department until 2012. He passed away at the Veteran’s Hospital in Albequerque, New Mexico on July 3, 2022 . He was born July 13, 1967.

Following the tribute to Wade Kelley, the bidding on baked goods went into high gear.

Following the very successful cake auction, live music was performed by Ethan Zackowski of Muleshoe, Texas, and Troublesome Country of Lubbock, Texas.

The grand finale of the event was the traditional fireworks show presented by the Springlake Volunteer Fire Department.
