Ronnie Martin wins Week 6 Football Contest

The Lamb County Leader-News’ annual football contest’s wrapped up week six last week and is now half way through the season.

Ronnie Martin was our first place winner this week with a record of 17-3.

We had a six-way tie for second place this week with, David Neinast, Donna Neinast, Jonathan Magallanes, JR Herrell, Lonnie Neinast and Mark Grace all finishing with a mark of 16-4.

The tie-breaker for week four was the combined score of the Commanders and Chargers, which was 37 points.

Lonnie Neinast and Magallanes split the second and third place prizes evenly, with a guess of 45 points, edging out JR Herrell and Grace who each guessed 46 points, David Neinast, who guessed 48 points and Donna Neinast, who guessed 50 points.

In the high school ranks, Littlefield won their Homecoming bout over Coahoma on Friday, 35-21, while the Whiteface Antelopes took down Springlake-Earth, 8248. Hart defeated Anton, 60-12, while Seminole took down Hereford, 45-28, and Fort Stockton defeated Big Spring, 42-21.

Wall took down Idalou, 35- 21, while Farwell handled Friona, 49-27, and Estacado edged out Andrews, 28-20. Monterey took care of business against Coronado, 42-7.

In the college ranks, Michigan took down Wisconsin, 24- 10, while Clemson defeated North Carolina, 38-10, and TCU took down Colorado, 35-21. Notre Dame handled business against Boise State, 28-7, while Navy edged out Air Force, 34-31.

In the NFL this week, The Cowboys held off a second- half comeback from the Jets, 37-22, while the Texans throttled the Ravens, 44-10, and the Patriots took down the Bills on the road Sunday night, 2320. The Colts put it on the Raiders, 40-6, and the Panthers picked up a win over the Dolphins, 27-24.

The rest of the contestant scores for week one are as follows: Those who finished 15-5 this week are Dewayne Hayes, Steve Raney, Juan Garza, Moe Castillo, Robin Elliott and Stevy Smith, while Brenda Herrell, Johnny Rosemond, Larry Ashley, Maria Pinon, Martin Duran and Richard Orozco each finished 14-6. 13-7 finishers this week were Alma Castillo, Charlie Smith, Stetson Sedberry, Terrill Moorhead and Tim Walker, while those who finished 12-8 were JC Orozco, Micky Orozco and Teresa Dabrowski.

Ed Dabrowski, Jan Smith, Sam Castillo, Stephanie Dabrowski and William Albus each finished 11-9, while Jimmy Garcia rounded out the field going 9-11.

In the overall standings, David Neinast still holds a narrow lead for first place with 92 points, while Martin sits in second place with 90 points and Duran is in third place with 88 points. Donna Neinast is in fourth place with 87 points, while JR Herrell and Stevy Smith are tied for fifth place with 86 points.

Lonnie Neinast, Hayes and JC Orozco are tied for sixth with 85 points, while Magallanes, Brenda Herrell, Richard Orozco, Raney and Jan Smith are tied for seventh with 82 points. Garza, Ashley and Micky Orozco are tied for eighth with 80 points, while Rosemond is in ninth with 79 points and Stephanie Dabrowski rounds out the top 10 with 77 points.
