Week 11 of the Lamb County Leader-News Football Contest wrapped up, leaving us with just one week of our contest remaining.
This week we Robin Elliott took the top spot finishing with a mark of 18-2. However we had seven contestants tie for second place with a mark of 16-4: David Neinast, Jan Smith, Lonnie Neinast, Nancy Smith, Stevy Smith, Ronnie Martin and Tommy Cloninger.
The tie-breaker this week was the combined score of Texas and Florida, which was 66 points.
Stevy Smith took second place with a guess of 73 points, edging out Jam Smith who placed third this week with a guess of 57 points. Just missing the cut were, Nancy Smith, who guessed 47 points, Martin, who guessed 48 points, Cloninger, who guessed 47 points, Lonnie Neinast, who guessed 45 points and David Neinast, who guessed 50 points.
In the High School ranks, Sudan went on the road and took down Ralls, 36-14, while New Home took down Olton, 21-2, at home. Big Spring snuck by Pecos, 28-21, while Andrews throttled Lake View, 65- 7. Idalou blasted Muleshoe, 61-19, while Motley County took down McLean, 5838.
Levelland defeated Liberty, 4135, while Seagraves blasted Sundown, 52-14, and Wall took down Stanton, 57-7.
In the College ranks, Alabama blasted LSU, 42-13, while Missouri edged out Oklahoma, 30-23, and Rutgers took down Minnesota, 2619. Kansas blasted Iowa State, 4536, while Notre Dame dismantled Florida State, 52-3.
In the NFL, the Bills took down the Colts, 30-20, while the Eagles blasted the Cowboys, 34-6, and the Lions won a thriller over the Texans 26-23. the Vikings took down the Jaguars, 12-7, while the Chargers defeated the Titans, 27-17.
Those who finished Finishing 15-5 this week were Donna Neinast, Johnny Rosemond, JR Herrell, Larry Ashley, Mark Grace, Terrill Moorhead and Trevor Williams, while those who finished 14-6 this week were Brenda Herrell, Ed Dabrowski, Ivan Estrada, Juan Garza and Richard Orozco.
Finishing 13-7 this week were Dewayne Hayes, James Hood, JC Orozco, Martin Duran, Sam Castillo and Sonia Balderas, while Jazmine Davis and Teresa Dabrowski each finished 12-8, and Alma Castillo and Micky Orozco each finished 11-9 this week.
In the overall standings, Lonnie Neinast holds the top spot with 170 points, while Brenda Herrell is in second place with 163 points and Duran, and JR Herrell tied for third with 160 points each. David Neinast is in fourth place with 159 points, while Donna Neinast and Rosemond are tied for fifth with 158 points and Jan Smith and Richard Orozco are tied for sixth with 157 points.
Stevy Smith is in seventh with 156 points, while Martin and Estrada are tied for eighth with 154 points, and JC Orozco is in ninth with 153 points. Cloninger, Hayes and Micky Orozco round out the top 10 with 152 points each.
