It is that time of the season that we are asking our citizens to please get your pets spayed and neutered. Last year over 17 litters of puppies made their way through the shelter.
Unwanted puppies bring unwanted problems. The cost of a litter of puppies is on the rise, while adopters and rescues are at an all-time low. This means these puppies are having nowhere to go and overwhelmed pet owners are letting these puppies run the street. This, in return, is allowing unvaccinated puppies to spread diseases, such as parvo.
Last year, in 1 day, we had to euthanize 27 puppies due to Parvo. The only way our community can get ahead of this issue is by having your pets spayed/neutered.
