As many of you know that the starting of school is just around the corner. I have had many opportunities to befriend and witness to various people in and outside of our community. It has been a blessing to get to know these folks. Some have even become good friends. Remember as school starts to pray for your school staff and faculty as they are in very important rolls and have great opportunity’s to witness and love on our kids.
Now, in regard to witnessing for the Lord, I came across a passage in Acts 24 that provides a unique little outline for us to remember as we talk with people about the Lord. In context, this passage concerns Paul’s interaction with Felix after his arrest in Jerusalem. It states, “And after some days, when Felix came with his wife Drusilla, who was Jewish, he sent for Paul and heard him concerning the faith in Christ. Now as he reasoned about righteousness, self-control, and the judgment to come, Felix was afraid...” (Acts 24:24- 25a).
Notice the 3 ideas Paul focused on in his witness:
1) Righteousness — man’s lack and God’s gift of righteousness through Jesus!
2) Self-control — one of the fruits of the Spirit given to those who are clothed with Jesus’ righteousness. Paul might have been saying, “Hey, if you see self-control in my life, it can also be yours if you follow Jesus.”
3) Judgment — letting Felix know that he is accountable to God for every “unpaid” sin he commits (thus needing a Savior!).
This is a good reminder for all of us in our witness. I’d say if Paul focused on these, it sure couldn’t do us any harm to use these as well!!
Let’s keep praying for one another and loving one another — and God will be glorified! Walking in the Spirit (or carried by the Spirit!),
God Bless and have a great week!!
