Littlefield Police Department has released some of its incident reports that occurred Nov. 21 thru Nov. 23, 2020.
On Saturday, Nov. 21, after LPD officers stopped a vehicle for expired registration, and when approaching the driver side window, a strong odor of marijuana was detected. The driver was instructed to exit the vehicle and stand on the sidewalk.
A search was performed on the car, and a blunt of Marijuana was discovered near the center console, along with discarded blunt ends in the removable ashtray in the rear cup holder.
The driver verbally stated that she did not have insurance on the car, and a check on its registration showed that vehicle insurance was unconfirmed.
All Ways Towing was contacted and the vehicle was towed, because of the City of Littlefield’s no vehicle insurance ordinance.
The driver received citations for having no insurance, the expired registration, and the open container of beer that was found on the floor of the driver side of the vehicle. She also received an additional citation for the Possession of Marijuana, 0.235 ozs.
At about 1:19 p.m., the driver returned to the Police Department with new proof of insurance, and was given a vehicle release form to take to All Ways Towing to retrieve her vehicle.
The suspected marijuana was taken to the Police Department, where it tested positive by a field test kit, and was placed in the evidence locker at the PD.
At 5:44 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 21, officers found a car parked at Plains Motel, with license plates that did not match the vehicle.
Officers watched for the vehicle to move, so they could talk with the driver. They found that the plates belonged to a work truck, and did not belong on the car.
The driver told officers he did not have insurance on the car, as well.
The officer took custody of the license plates and removed the registration sticker, and placed them in evidence at the Police Department. The driver was charged with the display of fictitious License Plates.
All Ways Towing was contacted and arrived at 6:46 a.m. and secured the vehicle.
At 5:59 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 21, a two-vehicle accident that occurred at 410 E. 14th Street in Littlefield, was investigated. The vehicles involved were a 2001 Chevrolet Blazer SUV, and a 2002 Ford F150 Pickup.
At 9:56 a.m. Monday, Nov. 23, an officer responded to a reported hit and run accident at the Lamb Healthcare Center’s Family Clinic.
The officer met with the owner of a 2013 Escalade SUV, who reported her vehicle was backed into by a patient, who left the scene in a 2014 Ford F150 pickup.
The officer found that there was a scrape on the front headlight area of the front bumper of the Escalade.
The officer tracked down the patient at his home, and visited with him about the accident. The patient advised he didn’t realize that he had scraped the other vehicle’s bumper. He had no damage to his vehicle. The officer said it appears the ball hitch on his vehicle made the impact, due to paint transfer.
The officer reported that the patient was extremely sick and didn’t believe he realized he had had an accident. The officer reported he did not cite the patient for Failure To Leave Information, and exchanged information with the owners of the involved vehicles.
At about 1:44 p.m. Monday, Nov. 23, an officer observed a motor vehicle crash in the 1000 Block of South Hall Avenue.
After a records check of one of the vehicles, it was determined that the operator of the vehicle did not have valid or current insurance on the vehicle.
All Ways Towing was contacted, and the vehicle was towed for the violation of a City Ordinance.
