The Texas Department of Public Safety reported that on January 1, 2023, at 5:01 p.m. that a one vehicle accident resulted in the death of Graciela Marquez Chavez, 44, of Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico.
The wreck happened on State Highway 214, four miles south of Morton, Texas.
A preliminary investigation revealed that 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer was traveling south on SH214 and drove into the west ditch. The Trailblazer over-corrected to the left, losing control in the process.
The Trailblazer skidded off the roadway and rolled before coming to a final rest in the field west of the highway. The driver of the Trailblazer, Chavez, was pronounced deceased due to the injuries sustained during the crash, by Justice of the Peace, Donna Schmidt.
