Olton High School students competed in the Region One Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) Competition and Leadership Conference, advancing to state and earning various accolades. FCCLA is a career preparation and workforce readiness organization for students seeking careers in education, hospitality, tourism, arts and design, personal finance, human services and public service. Moreover, students in the organization receive education in family and consumer sciences.
Students who participated in the competition included Austyn Gorman, A’Lee Griffin, Harlow Gorman, Jeri Holcomb and Claire Lostroh. State qualifiers Austyn Gorman and A’Lee Griffin received first place in the Promote and Publicize category, and Claire Lostroh was elected Region One Vice President of Competi-tive Events.
Jeri Holcomb earned bronze in the Fashion Design category.
Students will attend the FCCLA conference in April.
