College Football Bowl season has come and gone, and all that remains are the College Football Play-off Semi-Finals and the National Championship game.
Our Bowl Pick-Em contest saw 17 contestants fill out brackets this year.
In the College Football Play-offs first round, Alabama took down Oklahoma, 34-24, while Miami defeated Texas A&M, 10-3, and Ole Miss blasted Tulane, 41-10. Oregon took down James Madison, 5134.
In the second round, Miami upset Ohio State at the Cotton Bowl, 24-14, while Oregon shutout Texas Tech in the Orange Bowl, 23-0, and Indiana blasted Alabama at the Rose Bowl, 383. Ole Miss upset Georgia, 39-34 in the Sugar Bowl.
South Carolina State edged out PrairiView A&M, 40-38, in the Cricket Celebration Bowl, while Washington took down Boise State, 38-10, in the LA Bowl. Jacksonville State defeated Troy, 17-13, in the Veterans Bowl, while Old Dominion took down South Florida, 24-10, in the Cure Bowl.
In the 68 Ventures Bowl, Delaware defeated Louisiana, 20-13, while Arkansas State took down Missouri State in the Xbox Bowl, 34-28, and Western Michigan blasted Kennesaw State in the Myrtle Beach Bowl, 42-6. NC State blasted Memphis, 31-7, in the Gasparilla Bowl, while Washington State won the Idaho Potato Bowl over Utah State, 34-21, and Louisville took down Toledo, 2722, in the Boca Raton Bowl.
Western Kentucky won the New Orleans Bowl over Southern Miss, 2716, while Ohio defeated UNLV, 17- 10, in the Frisco Bowl, and Hawaii edged out California in the Hawai’i Bowl, 35- 31. Northwestern won the Sports Bowl over Central Michigan, 34- 7, while Minnesota edged out New Mexico in overtime, 2017, in the Rate Bowl, and UTSA throttled FIU, 5720, in the First Responder Bowl.
East Carolina won the Military Bowl over Pittsburgh, 23-17, while Penn State rallied past Clemson in the Pinstripe Bowl, 22--10, and Army defeated UConn in the Fenway Bowl, 41-16. BYU took down Georgia Tech in the Pop-Tarts Bowl, 25- 21, while Fresno State defeated Miami (OH) in the Arizona Bowl, 18-3, and North Texas won a shootout over San Diego State in the New Mexico Bowl, 49-47.
Virginia took down Missouri in the Gator Bowl, 13-7, while Houston won the Texas Bowl over LSU, 38-35, and Georgia Southern took down App State in the Birmingham Bowl, 29-10. Louisiana Tech defeated Coastal Carolina in the Independence Bowl, 23-14, while Illinois snuck past Tennessee in the Music City Bowl, 30-28.
TCU defeated USC in overtime, 30- 27, at the Alamo Bowl, while Iowa defeated Vanderbilt at the ReliaQuest Bowl, 34-27, and Duke took down Arizona State, 42-39, at the Sun Bowl. Utah defeated Nebraska at the Las Vegas Bowl, 44-22, while Texas State took down Rice, 41-10, at the Armed Forces Bowl, and Navy defeated Cincinnati at the Liberty Bowl, 35-13.
Wake Forest won the Duke’s Mayo Bowl over Mississippi State, 43-29, while SMU took down Arizona in the Holiday Bowl, 24-19.
In the CFP Semi-Finals, Miami and Ole Miss clashed at the Fiesta Bowl on Jan. 8th and Oregon and Indiana squared off at the Peach Bowl on Jan. 9th. Results were not available at press time.
The CFP National Championship will be played Monday, January 19th at Hard Rock Stadium in Florida at 7:30 p.m. on ESPN.
The standings heading into the CFP Semi-Finals are as follows: Martin Duran leads the field with 52 points, with Johnny Rosemond close behind with 43 points.
John Hernandez has 41 points, while Stevy Smith, Teresa Dabrowski, Juan Garza, Richard Orozco and Ed Dabrowski have 40 points and Angel Hernandez has 39 points. Alma Castillo has 38 points, while Steve Raney has 36 points, and William Albus has 35 points.
JC Orozco, Larry Ashley and Micky Orozco each have 34 points, while Sam Castillo has 33 points and Stephanie Dabrowski rounds out the field with 31 points.
