Week 10 of the Lamb County Leader-News Football Contest is in the books, leaving us just two weeks left of the contest.
This week we had three contestants tie for the top spot with a record of 19-1; David Neinast, Lonnie Neinast and Mark Grace.
The tie-breaker this week was the combined score of Middle Tennessee and UTEP, whichw as 33 points.
Grace and Lonnie Neinast split the first and second place winnings evenly, both guessing 50 points, while David Neinast finished third with a guess of 52 points.
In the High School ranks, Littlefield punched their ticket to the play-offs with a, 33-28, victory over Roosevelt on the road, while Sudan took down Morton, 36-24, and Springlake-Earth clinched a play-off spot with a, 60-12, victory over Kress. Whitharral 45’ed Anton, 54-0, while Denver City defeated Kermit, 57-38, and Friona took down Tulia, 52-15.
Miami defeated Lefors, 80-34, while Wylie took down Lubbock-Cooper, 22-6.
In the College ranks, Oregon handeled Michigan, 38-17, while Ohio State survived against Penn State, 20-13, and Miami rolled past Duke, 53-31. Arizona State took down Oklahoma State, 42-21, and UAB defeated Tulsa, 59-21.
In the NFL, the Bills edged out the Dolphins, 30-27, while the Bengals blasted the Raiders, 4124, and the Lions defeated the Packers, 24-14. The Titans took down the Patriots, 20-17, while the Commanders held off the Giants, 27-22.
Thos who finished 18-2 this week were Nancy Smith and Ronnie Martin, while those who finished 17- 3 were Dewayne Hayes, Donna Neinast, Ed Dabrowski and JC Orozco. 16-4 finishers this week were Brenda Herrell, Jan Smith, Johnny Rosemond, JR Herrell, Micky Orozco, Richard Orozco, Robin Elliott and Tommy Cloninger.
Finishing 15-5 this week were Alma Castillo, Ivan Estrada, Juan Garza, Larry Ashley and Stevy Smith, while Jazmine Davis and Martin Duran each finished 14-6, and Charlie Smith and Sam Castillo each finished 13-7. James Hood and Teresa Dabrowksi each finished 12-8, while Terrill Moorhead finished 10-10 this week.
In the overall standings, Lonnie Neinast holds the top spot with 154 points, while Brenda Herrell is in second place with 149 points and Duran is in third with 147 points. JR Herrell sits in fourth place with 145 points, while David Neinast, Donna Neinast, Rosemond and Richard Orozco are tie for fifth with 143 points, and Jan Smith and Micky Orozco are tied for sixth with 141 points.
JC Orozco, Estrada and Stevy Smith are tied for seventh with 140 points, while Hayes is in eighth with 139 points, and Martin and Alma Castillo are tied for ninth with 138 points. Cloninger rounds out the top 10 with 136 points.
