Week four of the Lamb County Leader-News Football Contest is in the books with this week’s contest being decided by way of tiebreaker.
Marcelino Garcia Jr. and David Neinast each finished with a mark of 15-5 this week. The tie-breaker was the combined score of the Jets and Browns game, which was 61 points. Garcia Jr. took first place with a guess of 48 points, edging out David Neinast, who guessed 42 points, leaving him in second place.
There were four contestants, who finished with a mark of 14-6 this week: Jan Smith, Donna Neinast, J.C. Orozco and Brenda Herrell. Jan Smith took third place with a guess of 63 points for the tie-breaker.
In the high school ranks, Littlefield shutout Lamesa, 42-0, on Homecoming, while Sudan traveled to Seagraves and took down the Eagles, 36-20. The Springlake-Earth Wolverines picked up their first win of the season, over the Amherst Bulldogs, 46-16, while Tahoka took down Crosbyton, 5925.
Whiteface blasted Anton, 53-6, while Olton won their homecoming game over Bovina, 56-26. Abilene Cooper edged out Coronado, 33-28, while Happy 45’ed Kress, 46-0. Roosevelt knocked off Slaton, 33-22, while Seminole took down Andrews, 36- 15.
In the college ranks, Notre Dame picked up their first win of the season in a, 24-17, victory over the California Bears, while North Carolina State ran away with a victory over Texas Tech, 27-14. #24 Texas A&M pulled out the upset over #13 Miami (Fl.), 17- 9, while Kansas went into Houston and knocked off the Cougars, 48-30. Washington also pulled out an upset over #11 Michigan State, 39-28.
In the NFL, The Buccaneers took down the Saints, 20-10, while the Patriots edged out the Steelers, 17-14, and the Cowboys beat the Bengals, 20-17. The Dolphins rallied past the Ravens, 42- 38, while the Jaguars shutout the Colts, 24-0.

Those who finished 13-7 this week were Johnny Rosemond, Gary Edwards, Dewayne Hayes, Marcus Garcia, Stevy Smith, Alma Castillo and Larry Ashley, while those who finished 12-8 are Oscar Sanchez, Ivan Estrada, Lonnie Neinast, Devin Garcia and Sam Castillo.
11-9 finishers this week include, Martin Duran, JR Herrell, Terrill Moorhead, Maria Pinon, Richard Orozco, Teresa Dabrowski, Ed Dabrowski, Jimmy Garcia and Chris Ruiz, while those who finished 10-10 this week include Tommy Cloninger, Ronnie Martin, Trevor Williams and Thomas Blackstone. 9-11 finishers this week were Mark Grace, Marcelino Castillo, Charlie Smith, Robin Elliott and Floyce Pierce.
In the overall standings, David Neinast takes over first place with 58 points, while Garcia Jr. and Jan Smith are tied for second with 57 points. Rosemond, Edwards and Duran are tied for third with 55 points, while Donna Neinast and Sanchez are tied for fourth with 54 points, and J.C. Orozco, Hayes and Estrada are tied for fifth with 53 points. Brenda Herrell, Lonnie Neinast, Devin Garcia and JR Herrell are tied for sixth with 52 points, while Marcus Garcia and Cloninger are tied for seventh with 51 points. Martin is in eighth with 50 points, while Stevy Smith, Moorhead and Williams are tied for ninth with 49 points and Grace rounds out the top 10 with 48 points.
