AMARILLO, Texas (July 8, 2025) — More than 100 Xcel Energy line workers from Texas, New Mexico, and Colorado competed in the 32nd Lone Star Lineman’s Rodeo in Amarillo on June 27. Competitors demonstrated the precision, strength and practical skills they use each day to restore power, maintain critical power infrastructure and deliver reliable electric service to our customers.
The rodeo drew hundreds of Xcel Energy employees and their family members, who gathered to cheer on teams and individual competitors as they tackled realworld challenges in a spirited, supportive environment.
“It’s fun for our line workers to be able to show their skills to their families because this isn’t the kind of job where you can take your kids to work,” said Cory Wood, Xcel Energy’s regional vice president of Operations. “In this career, safety comes first, and these competitions highlight the importance of doing the job right. The rodeo gives us a chance to celebrate the good work they do every day to keep the lights on for our customers.”
