A news release from the Texas Department of Public Safety reveals that David Vera, 45, of Littlefield died of injuries he received in an accident between his bicycle, and a 2020 Chevrolet Equinox at 6:20 p.m. Saturday, March 13,2021.
According to the release, Brent Matheson, 54, of Utah was driving a 2020 Chevrolet Equinox eastbound on US 84 in Lamb County, near mile marker 290, when the bicyclist, David Vera, 45, of Littlefield, was also traveling eastbound on US 84.
The Chevrolet and the bicycle collided on the roadway near the fog line, according to the news release.
Matheson was wearing his seat belt, and was not injured.
Vera was transported to UMC in Lubbock by ambulance, where he was later pronounced deceased.
The DPS report reveals that the posted speed limit was 75 miles per hour, and the weather and road conditions were clear and dry.
