Littlefield School Board meets in regular session

The Littlefield Independent School District’s Board of Trustees met in regular session on Thursday, April 20th to discuss a 16-item agenda.

The meeting was called to order by Board President Lance Broadhurst and he also gave the Invocation.

There was no one present to speak during Public Forum and the minutes from the previous meeting were approved by general consent.

The Board discussed Student Health Accident Insurance and the motion was made by Hervey Valdez Jr. and seconded by Gary Birkelbach to approve the Student Health Accident Insurance for the 2023-2024 School Year. The motion carried.

Next, the Board discussed the Staff Development Minutes waiver for the 2023-2024 School Year.

The motion to approve the Staff Development Minutes waiver for the 2023-2024 School Year was made by Adrian Solis and seconded by Pat Demel. The motion carried.

Item seven on the agenda was Substite Pay Scale for the 20232024 School Year.

The motion was made by Birkelbach and seconded by Solis to approve the Substitute Pay Scale for the 2023-2024 school year. The motion carried.

The Board discussed the Director of the Lamb County Appraisal District for the 2023-2024 term and the motion to approve the Director of the Lamb County Appraisal District for the 2023-2024 term was made by Solis and seconded by Valdez. The motion carried.

A report was given on Board Member Training Hours; no action was necessary.

There was also no action necessary for trust property disposition.

The Facilities Maintenance and Priorities Plan was presented and the motion to approve it as presented was made by Solis and seconded by Johnny Castillo. The motion carried.

The Financial Review and Report was given and the motion to approve the report as presented was made by Birkelbach and seconded by Demel. The motion carried.

A budget amendment was presented by the board and the motion to approve the budget amendment was made by Castillo and seconded by Demel. The motion carried.

The next item on the agenda was Personnel Matters.

Certified Personnel

The motion was made by Birkelbach and seconded by Demel to approve Mitzi Jennings as Junior High School Assistant Principal and approve her contract for July 1, 2023. The motion carried.

Resignation letters were presented on Shonda Broadhurst, Nancy Davis and Abigail Cobb.

Superintendent Mike Read provided the Board with upcoming training information and with their being no further business to discuss, President Broadhurst declared the meeting adjourned at 7:35 p.m.
