A motion to approve the financial reports was made by Committee Member Shawn Prickrell and seconded by Committee Member Jake DeWitt. The motion passed.
Committee members discussed informational agenda items and provided further discussion about the updates to the Aquatic Center. Parks Supervision Joe Don said the center is in good condition and ready for the opening date.
LEDC Marketing Director Alee McNeese emphasized the significance of the improvements, as recently reported data showed 15,000 individuals visited the center last summer. Approximately 5,000 of those attendees visit from out of town, McNeese said.
Additionally, Don outlined the recent updates to Crescent Park. A new basketball court was installed, and bench pads were replaced.
The last agenda item provided an update on the Texas Parks and Wildlife Grant application. McNeese said she aims to remain below the matching amount to receive the proper funding for the community’s needs. The funding will provide improvements to Laguna Park, specifically to the walking trail, lighting, fencing and the proposed pickleball court.
Committee members adjourned the meeting at 12:56 p.m.
