Saturday December 14, 2024, 13 band students traveled to Levelland High School for ATSSB ( Association of Texas Small School Bands) Honor Band Tryouts. They competed with students in school classifications from 1A-4A schools.
This music is difficult, so preparation began in August. This honor band tryout can lead to a student earning a seat in the Texas All-State Band.
All 11 students earned a seat in the band and will be traveling to Lubbock the last weekend in February. There they will practice all day Friday and Saturday morning, then present a concert that Saturday afternoon.
Congratulations to the following students: Zamya Darnell, Sophie Garcia, Bailee Griffin, Breanna Aleman, Caleb Caudillo, Emma Romero, Matthew Rios, Cesar Garcia, Mia Rodriguez, Jimmy Ramos and Jordan Randle.
Seven of these students advanced to the next level. They have a chance to earn a seat in the ATSSB All-State Band. They will be traveling to Levelland January 11, 2025 for Area/State band Competitions, They will compete against students from as far as Wall, Amarillo, Abilene, and El Paso.
