Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service in Lamb County is hosting the “Cooking Well with Diabetes” series of classes at the Lamb County Extension Office.
Classes will be held on November 14, 21 and 28, 2022 from 121pm.
This class is open to the public but to secure your spot you must register by calling 806-485-9135 (Lamb County Extension Office). The goal of the program is to help those living with diabetes, family members, or those just wanting to learn, how to make changes to the foods we eat and how they are prepared. The threelesson series examines carbohydrates, meal planning, and reducing fat and sodium while still maintaining flavorful dishes. Each session will include lunch, a recipe demonstration and you will receive a recipe book with recipes related to each session.
“We know it can be confusing”, said Courtney Lowe, MS, RDN, LD, Extension Agent Health. “There are a lot of different messages out there for how to eat when you have diabetes, but most important is enjoying your food and making positive changes that you can live with long-term”.
This program has been a part of Texas A&M AgriLife Extension’s Cooking Well Suite of Programs for over 15 years and is always a crowd pleaser. Courtney continues, “People that come to our Cooking Well classes are really excited about how easy home cooking can be and when they know they are cooking something balanced and healthy, they are motivated to try these recipes at home”.
