Texas Rural Electric Women’s Association (TREWA), an organization whose membership is composed of employees, spouses, directors, or anyone who supports the objectives of TREWA, has provided 20 scholarships in the amount of $1,500.
Lamb County Electric Cooperative is proud to announce that Kennedy Wood is one of the recipients of a 2020 TREWA scholarship in the amount of $1,500. Kennedy is also a recipient of a 2020 Lamb County EC $1,500 Scholarship.
Kennedy is the daughter of Lamb County Electric Cooperative members, Jason and Juli Wood. Kennedy is a 2020 graduate from Whitharral High School, and is attending Texas Tech University, pursuing a degree in Agricultural Science and Natural Resources with a focus in Animal Science.
She is employed by Texas Tech Equestrian Center, and she is honored to be one of 20 recipients of this scholarship in Texas!
The first objective of this association is to educate and create interest and understanding of the Rural Electric systems and issues among the members and the public.
Second, to present a unified front for the member-owned systems as they improve the quality of life in rural Texas.
Encouraging our youth to be future leaders is an important goal for the TREWA Association.
The association aids the Texas Cooperatives Government-In-Action Youth tour. Youths from across the state of Texas are selected through local youth tour competitions to represent their cooperative in Washington D.C. on a week-long “trip of a lifetime”.
Education empowers our youth for a brighter future. TREWA awards scholarships to eligible recipients to assist them in their education. Twenty (20) TREWA scholarships in the amount of $1,500 are awarded to current TREWA members or their children. These scholarships are awarded across the state of Texas to a graduating high school senior, full-time college student or adult who attends any accredited college, university, junior college, community college, trade/technical or business school of their choice.
For information about this and other scholarships, go to www.lcec.coop.org or www.trewa.org. 2021 TREWA application deadline will be March 12, 2021.
