High Plains Water District field staff have been conducting annual water level measurements since January 3, 2022.
There are approximately 1400 water wells in this program.
Staff has reviewed the preliminary results, and identified 130 wells that need to be rechecked. A recheck is warranted due to a variety of factors. Some of the common factors include:
—the well was in use at the time staff attempted to measure the static water level,
—the observed water level change indicates it was recently in use,
—bees in the casing prohibited access to the well site.
Completing these rechecks should take another week or so.
Afterward, the HPWD staff will again review the data and perform a quality check. The final data will then be included on the HPWD interactive web map.
