Hockley County wreck results in one dead, two injured

On Sunday, Feb. 25, 2024, at around 3:22 p.m. a two vehicle crash in Hockley County on Hwy 114, .06 of a mile east of Levelland resulted in one dead and one injured.

A preliminary investigation revealed that a 2023 Chevy Malibu was exiting from a driveway on the north side of State Highway 114. A 2023 Forf F-150 truck was traveling west on State Highway 114. The Chevy Malibu traveled south across the westbound lanes directly in the path of the Ford F150.

The driver of the Chevy Malibu, Neecy Ann Reyna, 40, of Smyer and the passenger of the Chevy Malibu, Santa Cruz Reyna Jr., 44, of Smyer were both transported to Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock, TX, with serious injuries, by Levelland EMS. Ms. Reyna was later pronounced deceased at Covenant due to the injuries sustained during the crash.

The driver of the Ford F-150, Leslie Wayne Smith, 62, of Levelland was treated and released on scene. All parties were wearning their seatbelts
