On Wednesday, Jan. 29th, around 5:48 p.m. a one vehicle crash with a pedalcyclist on FM 300 0.16 miles east of Kelly Road left one dead in Hockley County.
A preliminary investigation revealed that a pedalcyclist was westbound on FM 300. A 2012 Dodge Ram pickup was also traveling west on FM 300 and was approaching the bike from the rear. The Dodge Ram collided with the rear of the pedalcyclist.
At the time of the crash, the investigation revealed the sun was starting to set in the west.
The driver of the Dodge Ram, Marcus Jay Vargas, 22, of Sundown was not injured. The Pedalcyclist, Darrel Keith Hudson, 54, of Levelland was pronounced dead at the scene as a result of the injuries he sustained during the crash.
