Hale County wreck leaves two deceased

On Dec. 28th around 4:58 p.m., a two vehicle collision in Hale County at the intersection of US 70 and FM 179 resulted in two dead.

A preliminary investigation revealed that 2022 Chevrolet Pickup was traveling north on FM 179, approaching the stop intersection at US 70. The Chevrolet Pickup turned west(left) onto US 70 and failed to yield the right of way to a 1997 Peterbilt truck tractor, towing a semi-trailer, which was traveling east on US 70.

The Peterbilt truck tractor collided with the driver’s side of the Chevrolet pickup. The driver, Robert Curtis Dennis, 96, of Olton and passenger, Mary Hatley Dennis, 89, of Olton of the Chevrolet pickup were pronounced deceased on scene due to the injuries they sustained from the crash.

Mr. Dennis was not wearing a seatbelt.

The driver of the Peterbilt truck tractor, Colton Rabb, 26 of Elmore City, Oklahoma, was not injured.
