The City of Littlefield held their General Election with the Littlefield Independent School District’s election on Saturday, May 3, 2025, for the purpose of electing two City Council Members for District 3 and 4, and Mayor to fill expiring terms on the Littlefield City Council and for two At-Large spots on the LISD School Board.
Mayor Turpen was unopposed.
Both, District 3’s Buddy Holmes and District 4’s Kenny Rucker were also unopposed.
There were five candidates for the Littlefield ISD Board of Trustees: Gary Ozbirn, Member at Large; Brian Acevedo, Member at Large; Graham Henley, Member at Large; Gary Birkelbach; Member at Large; and Shawna Hastings, Member at Large.
The results are as follows: Gary Ozbirn received 275 votes, Shawna Hastings received 236 votes, Graham Henley received 99 votes, Gary Birkelbach received 92 votes and Brian Acevedo received 59 votes.
There was a total of 761 votes. In the City’s Special Election for Proposition “A”, which is: “To abolish the Type A Economic development sales and use tax levied by the Littlefield Economic Development Corporation for the promotion and development of new and expanded business enterprises at the rate of one-half of one percent and, concurrently, increase the Type B economic development sales and use tax levied by the Littlefield Type B Economic Development Corporation by a rate of one-half of one percent (for a total rate of one percent) to undertake authorized projects for the purpose of economic development, including re- lated maintenance and operation costs, as described in Chapters 501 and 505 of the Local GC.”
There were 319 total votes, with 230 voting for Proposition “A” and 89 voting against Proposition “A”.
City of Earth
The City of Earth Election Results for the May 3, 2025, election for Alderman, Full Term are as follows: Jesse Garcia III received 109 votes, Sayre Elizabeth Tovar received 91 votes, Malachi Samaron received 75 votes, Rowland Betz received 57 votes, Susy Ruby received 52 votes and Guillermo William Flores received 13 votes.
Garcia III, Tovar and Samaron will serve as Aldermen for the City of Earth for this next term.
