HEADLINER RANDALLKING
One of country’s new crop of modern traditionalists, Warner Music Nashville artist Randall King grew up on the endless plains of West Texas – and his sound is steeped in their timeless beauty, both gritty and graceful at the same time.
A son of a trucker, King grew up in the small West Texas town of Hereford, singing in the back of a ‘93 Chevy Suburban, mimicking the pure-country vocals of stars like Keith Whitley, George Strait, Alan Jackson and John Anderson and over the years became drawn to the electrifying energy of modern stars like Eric Church, Dierks Bentley and Jason Aldean.
Once he came of age, he moved to Lubbock in 2009 with the intent of getting a business degree from Texas Tech. While at college, he heard such local acts as Josh Abbott and decided to start playing music himself. Two years later, he transferred to South Plains College, where he studied music production while also playing music on his own. He formed an Americana group called the Randall King Band, which released an album called Old Dirt Road before splitting. King then decided to go it alone and sing traditional country.
After years of hustling and a road-warrior’s diet of 150 shows each year, King produced and released the defiant 2016 EP, Another Bullet, then followed up with a 2018 self-titled album.
Now produced by traditional torchbearers Bart Butler and Ryan Gore (Jon Pardi), King is bringing an organic, timeless sound to country’s mainstream with his major label debut album Shot Glass. The 11-song collection, seven of which co-written by King, centers around a night out at a bar, with each track representing a different point of view of those in the room.
With over 120+ million career streams to his name, the Pandora and Country Now 2022 Country Artist to Watch is looking to the anywhere-and-everywhere future with music that captures the essence of a Western poet who’s never been afraid to be himself.
OTHERARTISTS CONJUNTOAMANECER Conjunto Amanecer is a northern group from Ojinaga, Chihuahua, formed in 1985. They have more than thirty years of experience and more than twenty longplaying albums.
Conjunto Amanecer begins its history in 1985 when Eduviges “Vico” Madrid worked as a mathematics teacher, so he decided to buy an accordion to make his classes more dynamic.
By chance, someone informed him that there was a Norteño group that was looking for an accordionist, but Vico himself has declared that he was not a fan of Norteño music, but that he preferred music in English, being the Bee Gees his favorite group and “Hotel California” by Eagles his favorite song until then.
Testing himself as an accordionist with the aforementioned group, Vico began to take affection for Norteño music and then he joined his brothers Ismael and Rito to create a group, at first they got into debt to buy their first musical equipment, later they met Martín Herrera and Rito Islas, who participated as saxophonist and bassist respectively, and it was even Herrera who wanted the group to have sax arrangements like most of the groups in the region.
A short time later, Rito Islas left the group and Chacho Muruato entered his place.
By 1990 and already with their first album recorded for the company Discos Monterrey (DMY) they received a call from Juan Carlos “El Gallo” Calderón (QEPD) who invited them to his program “ECO” on Televisa. After said presentation, Chacho decided to leave the group and by 1991 they met Mr. Ismael Medrano and again appeared on Televisa.
In 1992 they met Joey S. López, director of Discos Joey, and he invited them to join his company, for which they recorded for nine years and a total of seventeen productions, all with great success.
RICKTREVINO
Rick Trevino is a Mexican-American country music artist. Signed to Columbia Records in 1993, Trevino began his career with the release of his debut single, “Just Enough Rope,” the first mainstream country music single to feature separate English and Spanish-language versions.
The song was included on his debut album, “Dos Mundos,” a self-titled album that followed in 1994. Trevino has charted fourteen singles on the Billboard Hot Country Songs charts and recorded seven studio albums.
His highest-charting single, “ Running Out of Reasons to Run,” spent one week at Number One in 1997 on the Billboard Country Chart. “Learning As You Go” and “She Can’t Say I Didn’t Cry” also reached Number One on the Radio and Records Country Chart.
In 1998 Trevino won a Grammy for his participation in “Los Super 7” whose members included elements of Los Lobos ( David Hidalgo & Cesar Rojas), the Texas Tornadoes (Freddy Fender & Flaco Jimenez) along with Joe Ely and Ruben Ramos. Raul Malo of the Mavericks joined up on LS7 albums #2 and #3 and went on to co- produce two Warner Brother albums for Rick.
Presently, Rick is working on a new album of his own original material.
THE ELECTRIC COWBOYS
The Electric Cowboys have made a big time name for them selves in Nashville. Over the course of their career, The Electric Cowboys have received multiple awards in some of the country’s major music categories, including three Grammy nominations and over 1 million views on YouTube.
The Electric Cowboys have shared the stage with some of Country and Texas Country’s biggest stars such as Willie Nelson, Toby Keith, Clay Walker, Dwight Yoakum, Kevin Fowler and many more. They also toured alongside and opened for the Dixie Chicks on their “Fly” tour. So it is really awesome having them perform in the area.
Just because they are called The Electric Cowboys doesn’t mean all you get is country music with their performance. You will get a high energy show that features all genres of music and will keep you entertained all night long. This is really a show you don’t want to miss!
Don’t miss out on the most anticipated music festival of the summer! Get your tickets now and join us at the Flatland Music Festival for an extraordinary experience you won’t soon forget.
