Week 12 of our Lamb County Leader-News Football Contest came to a close on Sunday with the NFL games. This week’s contest featured 10 NCAAF games and 10 NFL games.
In the week 12 contest, we had three contestants finish tied for first with a mark of 16-4, which were Dewayne Hayes, Johnny Rosemond and Jan Smith.
The tie-breaker this week was the combined score of Arizona and Colorado, which was 65 points.
By way of tie-breaker, Hayes took first place with a guess of 48 points, while Rosemond and Jan Smith split the second and third place winnings evenly, each guessing 45 points.
In the overall contest, Rosemond and Martin Duran split the first and second place winnings evenly, both finishing with 174 points.
In the college ranks, Georgia took care of Ole Miss, 52-17, while Oregon survived a scare from USC, 36-27, and North Carolina edged out Duke, 47-45. Missouri blasted Tennessee, 36-7, while Arizona State took down UCLA, 17-7, and LSU defeated Florida, 5235.
Washington edged out Utah, 35-28, while Florida State snuck past Miami, 27-20, and Michigan defeated Penn State, 24-15. Texas Tech took down Kansas, 16-13.
In the NFL, The Colts defeated the Patriots in a low-scoring affair, 10-6, while the Texans edged out the Bengals, 30-27, and the 49ers blasted the Jaguars, 34-4. The Cowboys took down division rival Giants, 49-17, while the Raiders won their Sunday night football game over the Jets, 16-12.
The Steelers took down the Packers, 23-19, while the Browns clipped the Ravens, 33-31, and the Lions snuck past the Chargers, 4138. The Seahawks took down the Commanders, 29-26, and the Buccaneers defeated the Titans, 20-6. Those who finished 15-5 this week were J.C. Orozco, Teresa Dabrowski and JR Herrell, while those who finished 14-6 this week were Charlie Smith, Brenda Herrell, Larry Ashley, Robin Elliott, Jonathan Magallanes and Ivan Estrada.
13-7 finishers this week were Stevy Smith, Duran, Ronnie Martin, James Hood, Richard Orozco, Terrill Moorhead and Juan Garza, while those who finished 12-8 were Tommy Cloninger, Oscar Sanchez, Lonnie Neinast, Ed Dabrowski and Thomas Blackstone. Mark Grace finished 11-9 this week.
The overall standings are as follows: Rosemond and Duran tied for first place with 174 points, each, while Brenda Herrell finished with 172 points, and J.C. Orozco finished with 170 points. Martin, Richard Orozco and Cloninger each finished with 168 points, while Magallanes finished with 166 points, and Jan Smith tallied 165 points.
Hayes and Lonnie Neinast each tallied 163 points, while Charlie Smith and Estrada each finished with 161 points and Ashley and Stevy Smith each finished with 158 points. JR Herrell and Sanchez each finished with 157 points, while Moorhead and Garza each finished with 153 points, and Grace and David Neinast each tallied 150 points.
Donna Neinast tallied 149 points, while Ed Dabrowski, Alma Castillo and Sam Castillo each finished with 145 points and Elliott finished with 144 points. Maria Pinon tallied 140 points, while Blackstone finished with 137 points, Teresa Dabrowski finished with 132 points and James Hood finished with 125 points.
