Littlefield ISD Superintendent
To the Patrons of Littlefield ISD:
It is hard to fathom we start school in two weeks! The summer has flown by and I am looking forward to having our students and teachers back in the halls as we begin a new school year. With that being said, our maintenance and custodial staff have been working diligently all summer to insure our schools are ready to go by August 16. Kudos to the following: Mark Warsing, Jerry Soria, Ricky Molina, Debbie Scott, Lupe Rodriguez, Moe Castillo, Rudy Gonzales, Dora Mireles, Esmerelda Cantu, Dina Cristan, Sandra Reyes and Joel Silvas for keeping our schools in superb condition. A big “Thank You” also goes out to the following warehouse/ground staff folks who keep our grounds looking great. They are: Greg Martinez, Lannie Potts, Adrian Medina and Ray Vargas. On behalf of Littlefield Independent School District, Thanks for keeping our facilities immaculate! You are Appreciated!
With school right around the corner and the number of COVID cases on the rise again, let me go over our plan of action for the upcoming school year. We have a return to school letter on our school website at www.lfdisd.org under the ESSER link. Here are few highlights from the letter. First, our plan is to return to a normal setting on Monday, August 16 with students and teachers back in the classroom providing face to face instruction. In our return to school letter, it states that masks will be OPTIONAL! Please feel free to check with your campus principal if you have further questions or concerns. LISD will continue to properly sanitize throughout the school day while students are in the building. LISD has contracted with Germ Blast who will be coming in and professionally sanitizing and cleaning every building we have in our district. This also includes school buses! This is a HUGE plus! The first cleaning will be prior to the start of the school year with the second cleaning being done during Christmas break and our last one will be done during our long Easter weekend. LISD will continued to closely montitor the Covid situation with our local Health Office, Texas Department of Health Services, and the Texas Education Agency. As you can see, we are taking proactive measures to insure staff, students, and visitors are safe. Please feel free to contact myself, Mr. McNeese or Mr. Gregory with any questions or concerns.
Another item we will address is our water fountains. Following the safety protocols and guidance from the Department of Health, we will be replacing all water fountains and putting in new bottle filling stations that will deliver a clean quick water bottle. This product also offers a sanitary no-touch sensor activation with an automatic 20-second shut-off timer. These products are currently on backorder and should be available within the next month or so.
Our goal at Littlefield Schools, is to take a proactive approach, by controlling illnesses and infections, which in turn should help our attendance and productivity. If you have questions or concerns, please feel free to stop by the office at your convenience.
Proud to be a WILDCAT!
Mike Read
