Commissioners meeting held Aug. 1st

The Lamb County Commissioners court met on Monday, Aug. 1, 2022 at 9 a.m. for a regular session.

Judge James DeLoach called the meeting to order, gave the invocation and led the United States and Texas pledges.

No one spoke for public comment.

The Consent Agenda Items include: Consider and take appropriate action on minutes from previous meeting, which took place on July 25, 2022; Consider and take appropriate action on budget and salary amendments and/or line item transfers, which there were none; Consider and take appropriate action on bills presented by the County Auditor, Gina Jones; Consider and take appropriate action on payroll, which there was none; Consider and take appropriate action on on departmental reports, which there were none.

A motion was made by Commissioner Danny Short and was seconded by Commissioner Lee Logan to approve the consent agenda items. The motion carried.

Item number four on the agenda was to consider and take appropriate action on Sheriff’s fees. Lamb County Sheriff, Gary Maddox, was present and explained why the Sheriff’s department needed an increase in their budget. A motion was made by Commissioner Lee Logan and seconded by Commissioner Kent Lewis to approve the Sheriff’s Fees. The motion was carried.

The next item on the agenda was to consider and take appropriate action on Appointment of Chief Deputy Clerk in the District Clerks Office and set Salary. A motion was made by Commissioner Danny Short and was seconded by Commissioner Cory DeBerry to approve the Appointment of Chief Deputy in the District Clerks Office and set salary. The motion carried.

Item number six was to consider and take appropriate action on Archive Plan-District Clerk. A motion was made by Commissioner Danny Short and seconded by Commissioner Lee Logan to approve the plan. The motion carried.

The next item on the agenda was to consider and take appropriate action on Optional Fees for Tax Assessor-Collector. A motion was made by Commissioner Kent Lewis and was seconded by Commissioner Danny Short to approve the Tax Assessor-Collector. The motion carried.

Item number eight was to discuss Lamb Healthcare Center operations. No report was given. No action was taken.

The next item on the agenda was to discuss future agenda items. Future agenda items were discussed.

Item number 10 was the budget work session. Monday, Aug. 29, 2022, at 10 a.m. the budget will be set and all parties the budget per- tains to will need to be present. Meeting will continue every Monday at 9 a.m. until then.

With there being no further items to discuss, a motion was made by Commissioner Danny Short to adjourn. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Lee Logan. The motion carried. The meeting was adjourned at 9:44 a.m.
