Commissioners meet, introduce new DEA for A&M AgriLife Extension

The Commissioners Court of Lamb County held its regular meeting on Monday, June 9 at the Lamb County Courthouse in Littlefield and is set to host a special meeting on Friday, June 13, at 9 a.m.

Lamb County Judge James DeLoach called the meeting to order at 10 a.m. and gave the invocation before leading the U.S. and Texas Pledge of Allegiance.

No comments were made during the public comment portion of the meeting. Consent Agenda items: (a) Consider and take appropriate action on budget and salary amendments and/or line-item transfers; none.

(b) Consider and take appropriate action on bills presented by the County Auditor; Lamb County Auditor, Gina Jones, requested the Commissioners approve bills totaling $589,164.58.

(c) Consider and take appropriate action on payroll; requests for an approved payroll ending on May 30 of 2025, for $163,285.57 and an approved payroll for Lamb Healthcare ending on May 31 of 2025, for $232,765.84 were made.

(d) Consider and take appropriate action on departmental reports.

Judge James DeLoach started with actions for Lamb County’s 2025 - 2026 Renewal of Employee Health Insurance. No action was taken.

The commissioners welcomed the new DEA for A&M Agri Life Extension, Rebel Royall. Royall worked for Extension for 32 years and served 22 years as an agent.

He started his work in Henderson County, and went on to various counties such as Bristol, Castro, Stonewall and Glasgow.

Judge James DeLoach said the House Bill 3000 he worked on during the Texas legislative session for EMS funding passed the Senate and awaits a signature from Governor Greg Abbott.
