The Commissioner’s Court of Lamb County met in special session on Thursday at the Lamb County Courthouse to discuss a four-item agenda.
Lamb County Judge James DeLoach called the meeting to order at 2 p.m. and gave the invocation before leading the Pledge of Allegiance.
Item two on the agenda was to consider and take appropriate action on Interlocal agreement between Lamb County and the City of Springlake.
“This agreement is basically for us to front the City of Springlake the money for the purchase of a fire truck, with it being repaid after they receive a grant that they were approved for,” Judge DeLoach said. “We had that discussion in here on Monday, and District Attorney Rickie Redman has sent me an agreement that she wrote, which basically says, once the City of Springlake has signed this agreement and executed this agreement, we will pay them the $100,000 that they requested for the purchase of the fire truck with the understanding that the funds will be refunded to the City and subsequently reimbursed to the County through a grant that the City of Springlake has already been approved for.”
He added, “The money is to be reimbursed to the County within 14 days of the City of Springlake receiving the grant funds, which will be done within 45 days.”
Lamb County Auditor, Gina Jones also stated that there is a clause in the agreement that the City of Springlake must carry full coverage on the fire truck until the grant money is received.”
The motion was made by Commissioner Kent Lewis and seconded by Commissioner Lee Logan to approve the Interlocal Agreement between Lamb County and the City of Springlake. The motion carried.
The next order of business was to consider and take appropriate action on bills.
Jones asked that the Commissioners approve bills totaling $106,840.76.
The motion to approve the bills was made by Commissioner Logan and seconded by Commissioner Lewis. The motion carried.
With no further business to discuss, the motion to adjourn was made by Commissioner Logan and seconded by Commissioner Cory DeBerry. The motion carried and the meeting was adjourned at 2:14 p.m.
