Commissioners hold regular meeting Monday

The Lamb County Commissioners Court met in regular session on Monday Feb. 27th, in the County Courthouse in Littlefield to discuss an eight-item agenda.

The meeting was called to order at 10:01 a.m. by Lamb County Judge James DeLoach and there was nobody present for public comment.

Consent Agenda Items: Consider and take appropriate action on minutes from previous meeting(s); there was two set of minutes, one from the regular meeting on Feb. 13th and one from the special meeting that was held on Feb. 17th and Judge DeLoach said that they were in order; Consider and take appropriate action on budget and salary amendments and/or line item transfers, which Gina Jones said there were none; Consider and take appropriate action on bills presented by the County Auditor, Gina Jones, in the amount of $740,582.62; Consider and take appropriate action on payroll presented by Jerry Yarbrough. She requested approval for Lamb County Payroll ending on Feb. 10, 2023, totaling $159,330.16 and Lamb Healthcare Center Payroll ending on Feb. 11, 2023, $195,034.92; Consider and take appropriate action on departmental reports; Consider and take appropriate action on Donation for Littlefield Library in the amount of $200.

The motion was made by Commissioner Danny Short and seconded by Commissioner Lee Logan to approve the Consent Agenda Items. The motion carried.

The next item on the agenda was to consider and take appropriate action on a change Part-time to Full time in Juvenile Probation.

“Basically with Carrie’s retirement coming up, we have Tony Montes, who is qualified to be the juvenile probation officer,” Judge DeLoach said. “What we’re requesting to do is move her into a full time position. The rest of this budget year she is still going to be working where she is and part of her salary will be paid just like it is. The other side of her full time – her hours would be split evenly – would be as the juvenile probation officer.”

He added, “The deal I made with Carry was that I had to have her letter or retirement before I brought it to court; I have that letter in hand, with her retirement effective the last of August. Toni will go to school in June or July to get her certifications. The Juvenile Board met Tuesday or Wenesday.”

The motion to approve Toni Montes changed Part-time to Full time in Juvenile Probation, pending the recommendation/approval of Lamb County Juvenile Board, was made by Commissioner Kent Lewis and seconded by Commissioner Cory DeBerry. The motion carried.

Cindy Pope was unable to attend the meeting Monday morning, therefore no report was given on Lamb Healthcare Center operations.

Future Agenda items were discussed, including West Texas Conference in Lubbock, Texas; Commissioner’s hotel reservations are being held with credit card. Sheriff’s Deputies are doing a good job county wide. Cemetery plot in Olton will need Commissioner’s Court approval and Housing subdivisions will need Commissioner’s Court approval.

With their being no further business to discuss the motion was made by Commissioner Logan and seconded by Commissioner Short to adjourn. The motion carried and the meeting was adjourned at 10:18 a.m.
