Commissioners hold regular meeting Monday

The Commissioners Court of Lamb County held their regular meeting on Monday, Oct. 28th at the Lamb County Courthouse to discuss a 7-item agenda.

The meeting was called to order at 10 a.m. by Lamb County Judge James DeLoach, who also gave the Invocation.

There was nobody present for the public comment portion of the meeting.

Before getting into the Consent Agenda, Judge DeLoach skipped down to Item four, which was to consider and take appropriate action on an IGT for Lamb Healthcare Center.

“The IGT is roughly $175,000 and we should get back about $425,000 give or take some,” Dylan Brown said.

The motion to approve funding the IGT for LHC was made by Commissioner Danny Short and seconded by Lee Logan. The motion carried. Consent Agenda Items: a) Consider and take appropriate action on minutes from previous meeting(s); Jude DeLoach stated there was one set of minutes and they appeared to be in order. b) Consider and take appropriate action on budget and salary amendments and/or line-item transfers; none. c) Consider and take appropriate action on bills presented by the County Auditor; Gina Jones requested that the commissioners approve bills totaling $1,325,762.60.

Judge DeLoach spoke about the bills, saying, “There are two sets of bills in here today. One is what we will pay today, the other is another set of bills for the Hospital that is contingent on an IGT coming back to us on the 31st. We’re just doing it this way to try and keep from having to have another Commissioners Court meeting like we’ve been having to do.”

He added, “Also in this set of bills, we had budgeted this year to trade in the stock trailer for a new stock trailer. That is included in these bills and it was budgeted for.” d) Consider and take appropriate action on payroll; Jerry Yarbrough stated that she had two sets of payroll needing approval. She requested that the commissioners approve payroll for Lamb County ending on Oct. 4th, in the amount of $164,151.84.

She also requested that the commissioners approve payroll for LHC ending on Oct. 5th in the amount of $204,725.66. The second set is for Lamb County payroll ending on Oct. 18th in the amount of $171,687.33 and LHC payroll ending on Oct. 19th in the amount of $194,944.23. e) Consider and take appropriate action on departmental reports; packets. f) Consider and take appropriate action on Donations; Sheriff Gary Maddox said, “On Oct. 16th the Chevy Premier Dealership gave the Sheriff’s Office a $500 donation for First Responder Appreciation. They also presented Ann with an award out there for her dedication and contribution to first responders in Lamb County. I’m just asking to accept the donation and do what we’ve done with some of the other donations and buy candy for Halloween and things like that.”

The motion to approve the consent agenda items as presented was made by Commissioner Logan and seconded by Commissioner Cory DeBerry. The motion carried.

Item five was to consider and take action on the Burn Ban.

After some discussion, no action was taken.

Future agenda items were discussed.

The County Thanksgiving Meal is set for Oct. 27th.

Selena Sanchez from the Library stated that their second annual sock drive will be going on through the month of Nov. Donations can be dropped off at the Lamb County Library in Littlefield. She also stated their Christmas bash and parade is scheduled for Dec. 6th.

Mike McNutt gave a brief update on LHC, stating, “September was a really good month for the Hospital, one of the best months since I’ve been there and it has carried over into October. We were really busy the first two weeks and then it was really slow last week. Sleep Lab is scheduled to have their accreditation Tuesday Oct. 29th. Hopefully we can get that wrapped up and make any corrections needed, but they said we can expect to have a certificate in hand within 30-45 days, which will open up another line of business for us, so that we can start doing Medicare and things like that.”

November Commissioners Court meetings are set for Friday Nov. 8th and Friday Nov. 22nd.

With no further business to discuss, a motion was made to adjourn by Commissioner Logan and seconded by Commissioner Short. The meeting was adjourned at 10:40 a.m.
