Commissioners hold regular meeting

The Commissioners Court of Lamb County met in regular session on Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2023, at the Lamb County Courthouse in Littlefield to discuss an 11-item agenda.

Lamb County Judge James DeLoach called the meeting to order and there was nobody present for public comment.

Next on the agenda was the consent agenda items; (a) Consider and take appropriate action on minutes from previous meeting(s); Regular Meeting, December 11, 2023.

(b) Consider and take appropriate action on budget and salary amendments and/or line item transfers; None.

(c) Consider and take appropriate action on bills presented by the County Auditor; Gina Jones.

(d) Consider and take appropriate action on payroll; Rene Trevino.

(e) Consider and take appropriate action on departmental reports; None (f) Consider and take appropriate action on donations for the Library; $405.25 used for gingerbread houses.

The motion was made by Commissioner Danny Short and seconded by Commissioner Cory DeBerry to approve the consent agenda items. The motion carried.

Item four on the agenda was to consider and take appropriate action on Burn Ban.

The motion was made by Commissioner Lee Logan and seconded by Commissioner DeBerry to approve keeping the Burn Ban on for 90 days. The motion carried.

The next order of business was to consider and take appropriate action on Memorandum of Understanding between Sudan ISD Police Department, and Lamb County.

The motion was made by Commissioner Logan and seconded by Commissioner Short to approve action on Memorandum of Understanding between Sudan ISD Police Department, and Lamb County, Contingent on the signing off by 1. Lamb County Attorney, 2. Lamb County Sheriff’s Office and 3. Sudan ISD. The motion carried.

The next item on the agenda was to consider and take appropriate action to consider bids on vehicles for the Sheriff’s Office.

The motion was made by Commissioner Kent Lewis and seconded by Commissioner Logan to approve the bids from Premier Chevrolet GMC of Littlefield on three vehicles (2 pickup trucks and 1 Tahoe) for the Sheriff’s Office. The motion carried.

Item seven on the agenda was to consider and take appropriate action to advertise for sealed bids for replacing the parking lot at the Sheriff’s Office.

The motion was made by Commissioner Logan and seconded by Commissioner Short to advertise for sealed bids for replacing the parking lot at the Sheriff’s Office. The motion carried.

The next order of business was to consider and take appropriate action to consider bids for the repair of certain County Roads.

The motion was made by Commissioner Logan and seconded by Commissioner Short to accept bids from H & B Paving one bid for $25,000 and one bid for $23,400 for the repair of certain County Roads in Precinct 4. The motion carried.

The next order of business was to discuss Lamb Healthcare Center operations.

Mike McNutt gave reports on Lamb Healthcare Center. Dylan Brown and Carla Synatschk were also in attendance.

Future agenda items; Several members of Lamb County 4-H gave a report on their year achievements and then presented the Judge and each Commissioner a gift of thanks.

Each department head/elected official gave reports on their offices current status. With there being no further business to come before this Commissioners Court, the motion was made by Commissioner Logan and seconded by Commissioner Short to adjourn. The motion carried and the meeting was adjourned.
