Commissioners Court meets Monday in regular session

The County Commissioners Court met for a regular meeting on Monday, Sept. 26, 2022 at 10 a.m. at the Lamb County Courthouse.

Judge James DeLoach gave the invocation, led the Texas and United States pledges and called the meeting to order at 10 a.m.

No one spoke for public comment.

The Consent Agenda Items include the following: Consider and take appropriate action on minutes from the previous meetings; regular meeting Monday, Sept. 12 and special meeting Monday, Sept. 19, 2022; Consider and take appropriate action on budget and salary amendments and/or line item transfers, which there were none; Consider and take appropriate action on bills presented by the County Auditor, Gina Jones; Consider and take appropriate action on payroll; which was presented by Jerry Yarbrough; Consider and take appropriate action on departmental reports, which there were none.

A motion was made by Commissioner Danny Short to approve the consent agenda items. Commissioner Lee Logan seconded the motion. The motion carried.

Item number four on the agenda was to consider and take appropriate action on 2023 Indigent Defense Grant Resolution. A motion was made by Commissioner Kent Lewis and seconded by Commissioner Lee Logan to approve the Grant. The motion carried.

The next item on the agenda was to consider and take appropriate action on Contract with Warren Computer Services for IT Services Contract. A motion was made by Commissioner Cory DeBerry to approve the contract, which was seconded by Commissioner Danny Short. The motion carried unanimously.

Item number six on the agenda was to consider and take appropriate action on Amended Notice of General Election and Order of General Election and Polling Places. A motion was made by Commissioner Lee Logan to approve the amended notice. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Kent Lewis. The motion carried.

The next item on the agenda was to consider and take appropriate action on request from the District Clerk to open an additional account. A motion was made by Commissioner Lee Logan and seconded by Commissioner Cory DeBerry to approve the request from the District Clerk to open an additional account. The motion carried.

Item number eight on the agenda was to consider and take appropriate action to purchase Battery Backup System for the Sheriff’s Office. A motion was made by Commissioner Danny Short to approve the purchase of the Battery Backup System. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Cory DeBerry. The motion carried.

The next item on the agenda was to consider and take appro-priate action to set salary for Employee in the Treasurer’s Office. A motion was made by Commissioner Lee Logan to approve the set salary for the employee in the Treasurer’s Office as the same as when they left six weeks ago. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Danny Short. The motion carried.

Item number 10 on the agenda was to discuss Lamb Healthcare Center operations. Cindy Pope gave the financial report with narrative. Pope gave a report yearby- year since she has been working as Hospital CEO. Pope will continue to work on a report that Commissioner Danny Short has requested. Pope will be working with TCCC regarding filling prescriptions through Lamb Healthcare Center.

Item number 11 was to discuss future agenda items. The next Regular Commissioner’s Court will be held on Friday, Oct. 7, 2022, putting out the holiday schedule and the Thanksgiving Luncheon will be held on Friday, Nov. 18, 2022 at MAC.

The next item on the agenda was the Court entering into Executive Session as authorized by the Texas Open Meetings Act, and pursuant to Government Code 551, Sub-Chapter D. Personnel Issues. Judge DeLoach called for the Commissioners and District Attorney to attend. The Executive Session opened at 10:42 a.m. The Executive Session closed at 11:53 a.m.

With there being no further business to come before this Commissioners Court, a motion was made by Commissioner Danny Short and was seconded by Commissioner Lee Logan to adjourn the meeting. The motion carried.
