‘Color Our World’ Summer Reading Program Ends

Color Our World, Summer Reading 2025 has OFFICIALLY come to an end, BUT we had SUCH A GREAT TIME!!! Children ages five through recent High School graduates were able to participate in a variety of crafts, games, entertainment and of course snacks while also learning and being inspired to read MORE during the summer hours! Our Little’s crew consisted of 5-11 year-olds, and each week had a different theme for them to participate in.

Week 1: The Science of Colors! Our friends from the Science Spec-trum stopped by for some crazy, cool experiments and then the kids were able to perform some of their own.

Week 2: Rainbow Foods! Mrs. Toni Meredith came for a visit and along with her usual fun involving music, dancing, and singing she also read to us about all the healthy, colorful food options out there!

Week 3: Messy Art Day! The children got to get messy and paint lots of different works of art in creative ways, then the Littlefield Fire Department came by to cool (and clean!) them off!

Week 4: Our final day was topped off with a visit from Monte the Magician, and it was an extremely good show! His tricks really blew away our children and he even let them have some crowd participation! They made their own Magic Drawings and Bunny-N-AHat crafts afterwards.

Our Teen Group had to miss their first week due to weather, but Mrs. Susan Bell from Brush Strokes Studio in Levelland came by for week two and led a Snack-N-Paint class with them!

Third week we hosted a “Popcorn and Poetry” night where they learned about different poetry styles then made their own.

Their final week was a “Selfies and Comics” event where we talked about Famous Self-Portraits, and different mediums to work with then they embellished their own portraits and then made magazine comics after!

We wrapped up the program with our End of Program Party where we had games, pizza and a live animal show put on by Walters World of Pets! They always bring such neat and exotic animals for the kids to learn about. We had a wonderful turnout for the month of June and thank all of our parents and participants for joining us! We look forward to next summer with you guys!!
