The governing body of the City of Littlefield met for a special meeting at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 1, 2022 at the City Council Chambers.
Members present were Mayor Eric Turpen, District 1 Council Member Eric Saenz, District 2 Council Member Michael Rangel, District 3 Council Member Buddy Holmes and District 4 Council Member and Mayor Pro tempore Kenny Rucker.
Others present included City Manager Mitch Grant, City Secretary Janine Butler, Treasurer Andrew Eisenwine, two staff members and one audience member.
Mayor Eric Turpen called the meeting to order at 6 p.m. Mayor Pro tempore Kenny Rucker led the invocation and Turpen led the Pledge of Allegiance.
No one requested to comment. Item number five on the agenda was a Public Hearing Regarding USDA Grant for the Fire Department. Turpen closed the regular meeting at 6:03 p.m. and opened the public hearing. No one requested to speak. Turpen closed the public hearing and reopened the regular meeting at 6:04 p.m.
Item number six on he agenda was to consider and approve action regarding the USDA Grant Program. City Manager Mitch Grant explained the resolution and application for the grant. After some discussion, Mayor Eric Turpen made the motion to approve the resolution for the application of the grant and to match up to $476,277, if awarded. The seconded motion was made by Mayor Pro tempore Kenny Rucker. The motion carried unanimously.
Mayor Eric Turpen adjourned the meeting at 6:18 p.m.
