The governing body of the City of Littlefield met in a special meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 10th at 6 p.m. at the City Council Chambers in Littlefield.
Mayor Eric Turpen called the meeting to order at 6 p.m. and the invocation was given by Mayor Pro Tempore Kenny Rucker, while Mayor Turpen led the Pledge of Allegiance.
There was nobody present for public comment.
City Manager Mitch Grant presented the No-New Revenue and Voter-Approval Rates. No action was taken.
Grant presented the most recent preliminary budget for review and discussion. Mayor Turpen made the motion to purchase a new backhoe with no service plan and expense up to $50,000 to purchase two new pickups for Water and Wastewater.
After some discussion, Mayor Turpen withdrew his motion. After some discussion, Mayor Turpen made the motion to purchase a new backhoe up to $111,000 with no maintenance plan option. Mayor Pro Tempore Rucker made the second motion with amendment to include factory warranty for six years and 5,000 hours at no cost from CAT or John Deere. Mayor Turpen seconded the amended motion. The amendment passed unanimously. The original amended motion carried.
Council Member Michael Rangel made the motion $100,000 for two pickups for Water & Wastewater. Mayor Turpen made the second motion. The motion carried.
More concrete numbers for Laguna and Crescent renovations were requested for budget. The budget will be adopted at next meeting and tax rate in September.
Rangel made the motion to authorize the City Manager and Treasurer to act on Letters of Credit, Loans and Deposit Accounts. Mayor Pro Tempore Rucker seconded the motion. The motion carried.
Mayor Turpen adjourned the meeting at 7:08 p.m.
