On Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2022, at 6:41 a.m. a two vehicle wreck on FM 54, three miles east of Littlefield, resulted in a fatality of a 17-year old male, of Spade, Tx.
The 2007 Chevrolet Silverado was traveling west on FM 54, west of CR 237, while the 1990 Freightliner truck tractor, which was towing a 2008 White ABR Trasport Trailer was traveling east on FM 54, approaching CR 237.
The Silverado drifted into the eastbound lane in front of the freightliner. The freightliner veered to the south to avoid the collision; however, the Silverado struck the rear wheels of the freightliner and the front portion of the trailer in the eastbound lane of travel. The 17-year old male was the sole occupant of the Silverado and was pronounced deceased at the scene due to injuries sustained during the crash.
The driver of the freightliner, a 21-year old male, of Hereford, Tx, was not injured during the crash.
