Brent Heffington to lead energy supply operations in Texas and New Mexico

Xcel Energy (NASDAQ: XEL) is pleased to announce that Brent Heffington has been named regional vice president of Energy Supply Operations for Texas and New Mexico.

He takes over for David Low, who retires after more than four decades of dedicated service.

Heffington brings extensive experience in power generation and plant operations to the role. Earlier this year, he was named plant director at Xcel Energy’s Tolk Station and Plant X, where he emphasized safety, culture and operational excellence. With more than three decades at Xcel Energy, Heffington has held numerous leadership roles here in Texas, New Mexico and Colorado.

Heffington holds an Executive MBA from Washington State University, a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Texas Tech University, and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Lubbock Christian University.

He succeeds David Low, who began his career at Jones Station as a student engineer and went on to serve in key roles at Tolk and Harrington Stations. In 2003, Low moved to Colorado to lead Pawnee Station as plant director before returning to Texas, where he was plant director at Tolk and Plant X before moving into his current role, where he has guided the Energy Supply team for 14 years. Low is active in the community, serving in leadership roles with the Amarillo South Rotary Club and other nonprofits.

“David’s leadership has shaped our operations for decades, setting a high bar for safety and reliability, and we are deeply grateful for his contributions,” said Adrian Rodriguez, president of Xcel Energy –Texas, New Mexico. “Brent shares that commitment to excellence and brings valuable experience and a fresh perspective. We’re confident he will build on David’s legacy as he guides our team forward.”

Low will retire at the end of the year, and Xcel Energy extends its heartfelt thanks for his outstanding service and wishes him the very best in retirement.
