Bobby Cunningham wins final week of Football Contest

The Lamb County Leader-News Football Contest has reached its end, after 12 weeks, we have our overall winner, as well as the winner of the 12th week of the contest.

For the week 12 contest, we had four contestants finish with a mark of 18-2, including Kay Cloninger, Floyce Pierce, Bobby Cunningham and Ed Dabrowski.

The tie-breaker was the combined score of the Eagles and Giants, which was 44 points.

Bobby Cunningham took first place with a guess of 45 points, while Kay Cloninger finished second with a guess of 48 points and Ed Dabrowski and Pierce tied for third both guessing six points off of the mark.

We had three games postponed in the college ranks, but Notre Dame took down Boston College, 45-31, while Texas Tech won a nailbiter over the Baylor Bears, 24-23. USC edged out Arizona, 34-30, while Washington snuck by Oregon State, 27-21.

San Diego State blasted Hawaii, 34-10, while Tulsa took down SMU 28-24.

In the NFL, the Saints downed the 49ers, 27-13, despite losing Drew Brees during the contest, while the Steelers took down the Bengals, 36-10. the Browns won a low-scoring affair over the Texans, 10-7, while the Lions defeated Washington, 30-27.

The Raiders took down the Broncos, 37-12, while the Patriots pulled an upset over the Ravens, 23-17, and the Cardinals defeated the Bills, 32-30, on a hail mary from Kyler Murray that somehow found the hands of DeAndre Hopkins.

The Dolphins took down the Chargers, 29-21, while the Rams took down the Seahawks, 23-16, and the Buccaneers throttled the Panthers, 46-23.

Those who finished 17-3 this week were Lonnie Neinast, David Neinast, Nancy Smith, JR Herrell, Johnny Rosemond and Missy Cunningham, while Tommy Cloninger, Jay Lee, Ivan Estrada, Larry Ashley and Danny Sanders each finished 16-4.

Jan Smith, Stevy Smith, Dewayne Hayes, Donna Neinast, Junior Garcia, Devin Garcia, Oscar Sanchez, Brenda Herren and James Hood each finished 15-5, while Mark Grace, Terrill Moorhead, Teresa Dabrowski and Devin Jones each finished 14-6.

Jimmy Davis Sr., Robin Elliott and Jimmy Davis Jr., each finished 13-7, while Marcus Garcia finished 12-8 this week.

In the overall standings, Lonnie Neinast was able to retain the top spot with 201 points, edging out Tommy Cloninger, who finished in second place with 197 points and Kay Cloninger, who finished third with 194 points.
