Anton ISD receives report of misconduct between a student and employee

Anton ISD has announced an employee with the district has been placed on administrative leave after receiving a report of ‘misconduct’ between a student and the employee.

Anton ISD Superintendent Freddie Tobias issued a press release Monday detailing the situation.

On Tuesday, August 8, the Anton ISD administration received a report that a district employee may have engaged in educator misconduct relating to a student or minor.

Upon receipt of the report, the district immediately placed the employee on administrative leave, informed local law enforcement and Child Protective Services of the allegation.

Additionally, the release states the district further reported the allegation to the Texas Education Agency.

The release states, “It is the district’s understanding that law enforcement’s investigation into this matter is ongoing,” It was also mentioned that the employee is no longer employed by Anton ISD.

“The school administration is grateful for the cooperation it received from the Hockley County Sheriff’s Department,” Tobias said in the statement. “The District will continue to cooperate to the fullest extent permitted by law with law enforcement and other state and local agencies relating to educator misconduct.”

The employee was not identified within the release.

“Inappropriate relationships between District employees and students or minors are never tolerated,” said Tobias. “The Anton ISD administration encourages anyone with concerns of a suspected improper relationship between a staff member and a student to immediately contact the Superintendent’s office or the Hockley County Sheriff’s Department.”
