The Amherst Bulldogs’ varsity football team will be opening their season on the road on Friday when they travel to Wilson to take on the Lubbock Home School Titans.
Head Coach Daniel Hinojosa gave his thoughts on their scrimmage against Whiteface on Friday, saying, “We started out slow, and then picked it up. We played a lot of plays with only nine healthy bodies, so we got a lot of work out of it.”
He added, “We threw the ball well, but we need to block better. Defensively, we are getting better. Overall, the scrimmage was a good look for us and we found a lot of areas to improve on.
The Bulldogs will clash with the Titans on Friday at Wilson High School.
“As far as the game on Friday, I think we just need to execute and get better at the little things,” the coach said. “It’s a long season. If we didn’t have anything to work on then we would be in trouble.” He added, “Offensively we need to

The game time for this contest has been moved up to 5 p.m. at Wilson High School.
