A new Barbershop is opening here in Littlefield, in the near future.
Alberto Silvas, a life-long resident of Littlefield, and a 2009 graduate of Littlefield High School, is opening the barbershop, formerly owned by Babe Banner, in the 300 Block of Phelps Avenue. It is being called: “Anointed Kutz.”
Alberto said he’s always wanted to cut hair and said: “After some really rocky years, and taking the wrong paths in my life, I accepted God into my heart and life and I was baptized in 2017. With God’s help and guidance, I turned my life around and everything started coming together in my life. I use to be focused on opposition, but now with God leading me, I’m focused on the Kingdom and on doing God’s work.”
Alberto began studies at Lubbock Hair Academy in February of 2019, and he graduated in January of 2020. Alberto said: “After I graduated from Barber College, I went to work for U.G.K Underground Kutz, in Lubbock, but once the Pandemic hit in March, I began cutting hair out of my Laundry room here, but knew I wanted my own Shop.”
While Alberto is waiting to decide the date of his Grand Opening, he is working on remodeling the Barbershop and everything that’s connected with that, such as bringing it up to date in the meantime. He has placed Wildcat colors adorning one wall, and Texas Tech colors on the other.
I asked Alberto what he’s looking at in the future for the Barbershop and what his focus is, to which he replied beaming with a big smile: “I’m a single Dad to my beautiful daughter, Avianna, age 10, and I’ve had custody of her since she was 3. I want to make this the best Barbershop ever and all my focus and hard work is for and on my daughter, so she and I can have a wonderful, stable life here. We’re doing very well so far, and we’re extremely blessed in our lives, but I hope to soon have a full team in my Shop, along with someone who will be doing manicures/pedicures, and God willing, I want to eventually open up a second location in either Levelland or Muleshoe.”
Alberto stated his Grand Opening will be coming soon, and he’s hoping to have a DJ, food and much more on that day, so the Leader-News will be updating the public when we know a specific time and date.
