2022 Amherst Celebration a good time for everyone

The annual Amherst Celebration was held Saturday, July 31, 2022, kicking off with a parade that featured Amherst alumni, the current football team and cheerleaders, emergency vehicles, floats, antique cars, motorcycles, fourwheelers, antique and modern farm quipment, and of course, a horse. A special float featured the Class of 1962.

Immediately following the parade, visitors moved to the Amherst City Park to enjoy music, games, food, prize drawings, shopping, and “just visiting”.

Kimberly Brantley, an Amherst Chamber of Commerce Board Leader, awarded randomly drawn winners door prizes that were donated by these generous donors: Wagley Florist, Megan Harrison, Joe and Rosa Angel, First State Bank and Trust, Texas Producers Co-op Sudan, Amherst Fire Dept., Uncle Knuckles BBQ, Randy & Jan Miller, Hayli Riney, Kacee Gonzalez, Haley Martinez, Mickey & Kimberly Brantley, Larry & Jennifer Sawyer, Todd Carpenter, Juanita Garza, Liliana Jimenez, Sarah Alexander, Beauty by Araseli, Blasas Berries, Kacee Moore, Jackie’s Restaurant, and Wellington State Bank. (if any donors were omitted, the Amherst Chamber apologizes, and expresses their sincere appreciation) with the Kids Tractor Pull. Winners were: In the 3&4 year old group were Decklan Rogers-1st, Huxley Magbey-2nd, and Ezekiel Walker.

In the 5 & 6 year old group 1 st place went to Harvey Kyle Patterson, and 2 nd place went to Brent Enloe, and in the 7&8 year old group, 1 st place went to John Van Depol, and 2 nd went to Jkxon Province.

The big winners in the Raffle were Marlene Leal who won a Pit Boss Tabletop Pellet Grill in the Fire Dept. drawing.

Garland Goolsby won the Grand Prize of the John Deere Zturn riding lawn mower at the celebration’s end.
