PASTOR’S CORNER

What Does The Month of December Signify for You? ...

Phrases we hear in this month: Merry Christmas, Happy New Year. It is the month of gifts, of family gatherings, school vacations.

Can we do anything else to give this month a good signifance? We cannot escape these celebrations, even those that do not believe in Jesus, the Messiah. We hear Christmas music everywhere, movies and dramas.

A question: What stands out in this celebration? The birth of the Son of God, in which the important days are the 24th and 25th. Even according to historians it is believed that a more exact date is in the month of September.

What do you and I think about this month? I personally give thanks that God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten Son so whoever believeth in him will not be lost but have eternal life (John 3:16). Something that I do in this month and I encourage you to do it is to take inventory of the things I was able to accomplish, examine and be honest with myself and see where I failed. I do not know if God will call me into his presence next year. Time does not stand still and you and I have celebrated one more year of life.

One of my favorite Scriptures that I say during the year is Psalms 139: 23- 24 “ Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting”. This way I prepare myself in a better manner to enter into 2025 with my right foot.

What should we be careful of: Be prudent when traveling in an auto, if someone wants to pass you by increasing their speed, allow them to do it. According to statistics automobile accidents have increased, more robberies. We need to do our part to enjoy these celebrations. I consider this to be very important for us to do: bless someone else, not only material wise. Visit the nursing homes, the persons that live alone. It would be wonderful if you could invite someone to your house. It is good to collect toys, bags of groceries to give out, but on top of this go in person and tell them that Jesus loves them.

I bless you and wish you the best during these celebrations.
