LJHS honors new N.J.H.S. members

On Thursday, February 16, 2023, the Littlefield Junior Honor Society inducted 21 new members. Selections were made based on outstanding scholarship, character, leadership, service, and citizenship.

To be inducted, a student must have an average of 90 or above in their academic classes. Once selected, members have the responsibility to continue to demonstrate all of the qualities.

Jessie Ortiz, a current member of N.J.H.S., opened the program with the Pledge of Allegiance, and then Maggie McNeese, vice-president of N.J.H.S., welcomed everyone. Adrian Solis spoke to the N.J.H.S. members and their families.

N. J. H. S. president, Jayden Barrio, explained that membership into this organization has been earned by the demonstration of the five qualities held in high esteem by the Society.

With a candle- lighting cer-emony, the officers then gave the meaning of each quality and explained how the members are expected to use each in their lives. The officers include: president, Jayden Barrio; vice-president, Maggie McNeese; secretary, Brianna Aleman; treasurer, Christopher Weaver; and parliamentarian, Rhealee Golden.

After Barrio led the inductees and the current members in the N.J.H.S. pledge, Adam Solis, junior high principal, presented each inductee with a certificate. The current members were then recognized.

McNeese closed the ceremony.
