Lady Cat volleyball Top Cats, Players of the Week

The Lady Cats’ Top Cats and Players of the Week were announced for the week of Sept. 10th-14th, by the volleyball coaching staff.

The high school Top Cat and JV Player of the Week this week was freshman, Ellie Lopez.

“Elle is one of the toughest and hardest working Lady Cats currently on the roster,” Head Coach Claire Cozart said. “She has embraced and excelled in strength and conditioning during the class period. Elle has improved every day since the start of two-a-days. Elle is a quiet leader, she leads by her example and is a valuable asset to the JV team.”

Wildcats shut out by Idalou, 45-0

The Littlefield Wildcats’ varsity football team struggled to find the endzone on Friday as they fell to the Idalou Wildcats, 45-0.

With the loss, the Wildcats fall to 0-3 overall on the season.

The Littlefield Wildcats won the toss and elected to defer to the second half.

Idalou would take over at their own 30-yard line after the kick-off by Melvin Johnson.

Idalou marched down the field on their opening drive and capped off a seven play, 70-yard drive with a nine-yard touchdown run by Jeremiah Lorimer. The PAT by Landon Reeves was good, putting Idalou up, 7-0, with 8:56 to play in the opening quarter.

Lady Cats fall to Seminole in straight sets

The Littlefield Lady Cats’ varsity volleyball team hosted Seminole on Thursday, as part of a dual match with the Maidens and Lamesa. The Lady Cats dropped the first match to Seminole, 3-0.

In set one, after both team had a ball hit out of bounds, Chloe Gonzales scored a kill off of the serve from freshman, Danielle Zapata, putting the Maidens up, 1-2.

Jaylee Matthews took to the serve line for Seminole, where she rallied for five points before the streak was broken, as she served the ball into the net, making the score, 2-7.

9th grade Wildcats down Mustangs, 46-24

The ninth grade Wildcats’ football team defeated the Denver City Mustangs at Wildcat Stadium on Thursday, Sept. 6th by the score of 46-24.

With the victory, the Wildcats are 2-0 overall on the season.

Littlefield got things rolling early with scores from Tyjae Chambers on touchdown runs of 12 yards and one yard. Both two-point conversions were good as Jordan Trevino connected with Ryan West on the first conversion and Ethan Garcia rushed for the second to put the Wildcats up, 16-0, in the first quarter.

The second TD was set up on a 37-yard pass completion to West, moving the ball all the way down to the one-yard line. The Wildcat defense held the Mustangs on their first three possessions.

Wolverines cross country takes first amongst 1A schools

The Springlake-Earth Wolverines’ cross country team”competed at Plainview last Saturday where they finished sixth overall in 1A- 4A,first in 1A.

Diego Sánchez finished 10th with a time of 17:54.55, while”Joe Matt Cruz finished 19th with a time of 18:22.47.” Evan DeLeon finished 25th with a time of 18:48.62, while”Joshua Samaron finished 42nd with a time of 19:18.65 and ”Juan Vargas finished 119th with a time of 23:51.02.

Eighth grade Lady Cats’ volleyball falls to Fillies

The eighth grade Lady Cats’ volleyball teams hosted the Shallowater Fillies on Thursday.

The eighth grade B-team lost 15-25 and 19-25, while the Ateam lost 6-25 and 18-25.
