Amherst falls to Jayton in area round

The Amherst Bulldogs’ varsity basketball team had their season come to an end on Friday at Lubbock- Cooper High School, as they fell to the Jayton Jaybirds, 78-21, in the 1A Area round of the basketball play-offs. Jayton opened the contest on an, 11-0, scoring run, before Joel Garcia knocked down a three from the left corner to get the Bulldogs on the board, trailing, 11-3, with 2:28 to play in the first quarter. Gabriel Garcia was fouled on a three- point attempt by Ben Blankenship with under a minute to play in the quarter. He made the first shot, missed the second and was called for a lane violation on the third attempt, leaving the score, 11-4.

Lady Cats go 2-2 at Tahoka Tournament

The Littlefield Lady Cats’ varsity softball team went 2-2 at the Tahoka Tournament on Thursday and Friday for their first tournament of the season. In their tournament- opener against the host team Tahoka, the Lady Cats fell into a, 4-1, hole in the first inning, before the Lady Bulldogs, pounded out 11 runs in the bottom of the second inning to take a, 15-4, lead into the third inning.

Lfd. track teams compete in first meet of season

The Littlefield varsity track teams competed at the Mule Relays at Benny Douglas Stadium in Muleshoe on Friday with the Wildcats taking fourth place overall with 66 points and the Lady Cats finishing eighth with four points.

The Littlefield Wildcats’ varsity basketball team had their season come to an end at Lubbock- Cooper High School on Friday, as they fell to the Shallowater Mustangs, 68-42, in the Class 3A Area round of the basketball play-offs.

Wolverines fall to Wildorado in Bi-district

The Springlake-Earth Wolverines’ varsity basketball team had their season come to an end on Tuesday night at Canyon Randall High School, as they fell to the Wildorado Mustangs, 48-42. Alex Alvarez picked up a steal and went coast-to-coast finishing with a lay-up through contact at the basket to put the Wolverines in front, 2-0.

Lockhart, Shultz headline Sudan Nettes All-District honors

The Sudan Nettes’ varsity basketball team were well represented on the District 4-2A All-District lists. Sudan was led by a pair of seniors, as Stevi Lockhart took home the district MVP, while Gracyn Shultz brought home the District’s Offensive MVP Award.

NEttes drop heart-breaker to Stratford

The Sudan Nettes’ varsity basketball team saw their season come to an end on Friday night, as they dropped a nail-biter to the Stratford Lady Elks in Vega, 49-48, in the Class 2A Area round of the Basketball Play-offs.
