For the second week in a row, Littlefield has played the spoiler for a school’s Homecoming. The week taking down the Post Antelopes, 61-6. With the win the Wildcats improve to 3-0 overall on the season!

After a turnover on downs on the Wildcats’ first offensive possession, Littlefield’s defense would force a three-and-out, making Post punt the ball away with 8:53 remaining in the opening quarter. From that point on the game belonged to the Wildcats.

The Wildcat defense recovered a fumble with 8:17 remaining in the opening quarter and the offense wasted no time finding the end zone, as they marched 61 yards, capping off the drive with a nineyard touchdown run from senior tailback, Mason Jones with 6:26 left to play in the first quarter. The PAT by Angel Salazar was good, putting the Wildcats up, 7-0.

After two stalled drives by the Wildcats, Post had the ball to open the second quarter, but Cruz Pantoja-Navarro carried the ball on a quarterback keeper on first down, but had the ball knocked out by sophomore free safety, Major McNeese, and it was recovered by senior linebacker, Javen Jimenez, giving the Wildcats the ball at their own 40-yard line. The offense took the field with good field position and would not be denied on this drive.

They were stopped on third and five, bringing up a fourth and four situation from the Post 37-yard line. They elected to go for it on fourth down, as sophomore quarterback, Chip Green, dropped back and connected with Jimenez down the near sideline for a 38-yard touchdown pass. The PAT by Salazar sailed through the uprights, making the score, 14-0, with 10:17 left to play in the first half.

The Wildcats would strike again later in the second quarter, after marching 51 yards, they capped off the long drive with a four-yard touchdown run by Green, making the score, 20-0, after the failed PAT, with 1:47 remaining in the half. Post took over at their own 27-yard line after the kick-off from Salazar, but three plays later, Pantoja-Navarro was stripped of the ball and it was recovered by the Wildcat defense with 46 seconds left to play in the first half.

The Wildcats needed just three plays to find the end zone again, as Green hit Omar Martinez over the middle for a 22-yard touchdown pass with 26 remaining in the half. Salazar nailed the PAT to stretch the lead to, 27-0, which would stand going into the locker room at halftime.

Post got the ball to start the second half, but their drive was derailed on their second first down of the drive, as Pantoja-Navarro was picked off by cornerback, MJ Randle just 30 seconds into the third quarter, giving Littlefield the ball at their own 35-yard line. After coming up empty on their first offensive possession of the second half, the Wildcats would get the ball back for their offense with 8:07 left to play in the third quarter.

This time, the Wildcats would go nine plays, 61-yards, capping off the drive with a 28-yard touchdown pass from Green to Jimenez with 5:19 remaining in the quarter. The PAT from Salazar was good, extending the lead to, 34- 0. Littlefield’s defense forced another three-and-out for Post, but this time, Jimenez got his hands on the punt and returned it all the way to the Post 24-yard line, where Littlefield’s offense would take over for their next possession.

They would fine the end zone a few plays later, as Green punched it in for the one-yard score, pushing their lead to, 41-0, with 2:09 left to play in the quarter. The Antelopes struggles on offense continued, as they were forced to punt the ball out of their own end of the field once more. They punted away from Jimenez, but this time McNeese got his hands on the ball and reversed field several times before ripping it down the Littlefield sideline for a 34-yard return down to the Post 21-yard line.

Sam hill would carry the ball on first down, bringing the third quarter to a close, but the Wildcats would find the end zone once more a few plays later, on an 11-yard touchdown run from Hill to stretch their lead to, 48-0, with 10:51 remaining in the contest. Post would get the goose egg off the board on their next possession, as the Antelopes broke loose for a 78yard touchdown run with 10:31 to play in the game. The two-point conversion was no good, leaving the score, 48-6.

Green would hit Randle for a 71yard touchdown pass and Hill would punch in a five-yard score, as the Wildcats put the exclamation point on their, 61-6, victory over Post.

The Wildcats totaled 561 yards of total offense; 348 passing yards and 213 rushing yards, while holding Post to 168 total yards of offense.
